Resilience

Resilience.  It’s a characteristic of some people that allows them to endure more than one would think possible.  It’s a fundamental part of one’s personality and I think it may be one of the biggest determinants of how people recover from illness.

That’s not to say that those who struggle with their ailments are not resilient.  My thought is that resilient people do better no matter what the stress or problem.

How do you learn to be resilient?  There is an element of self talk which keeps thinking positive even when the chips are down.  If you envision positive outcomes, they are more likely to happen.  Challenges will happen to us all;  we must work on imagining success.

There’s a natural form of being resilient and it manifests as calm even in the middle of a storm.

If we can keep our heads when all around us others are losing theirs…….

The bottom line is that positive energy and thinking are helpful in all situations.  We develop resilience in the face of difficulty and I believe that all of you are amazing and resilient.  It’s inspiring to be with people who are mentally (and physically tough).  Bring it on!
